Pelagos island

The other name of the island Kyra Panagia. Inhabited by just 10 people, is the property of the monastery of Great Lavra monastery on Mount Athos.
Noteworthy are two safe natural ports: St. Peter in the Southwest and the Planitis in the Northeast. These well sheltered ports are point of attraction for sailors and local fishermen.
Planitis is anchorage, sheltered from all weathers. Strong winds, disastrous for other areas, do not disturb the peace in the three coves of this natural harbor. Much evidence suggests that this island is identical with the Ancient Alonissos, the lost Atlantis of Sporades.
