Mytilene is an amazing, alive city. It is the place to start most of our trips but you will be happy to spent some more days here too.
Built on seven hills is undouptfully the Queen of the Aegean.
Walking in this city it is not possible not to feel it's difference. Mytilene is like no other city of the Aegean Sea islands.
Scattered mansions in the city, transport us to another time with different styles each: Baroque, neogotthika, Belle Époque, Renaissance, neoclassical they will ... fill out a beautiful, strange architectural icon for the city apparent the oppulnce that the town experienced during the late 19th century.
Wander through the streets of the Epano Skala up till Sourada. Cross the Ermou street which is the main market of the town, visit the Temple of Agios Therapontas that dominates the town, admire the Yeni Mosque, go up to the Castle and end up at the city's archaeological museum.
Don't forget to visit the Terriade Museum and the Museum of Theophilos.
There is also the ancient theatre located uphill with perfect acoustics.
